Our story

Our story starts in 1947.

Not many organizations can say they've been serving their community for nearly 80 years. The Over 60 Club can.

Founded in 1947 in Stamford, Connecticut, The Over 60 Club is one of the oldest continuously operating senior centers in the country. Decades before “senior wellness” became a talking point, a group of Stamford community members came together with a simple conviction: that every older adult deserves a place to belong — regardless of income, background, or circumstance.

That conviction hasn't changed. And neither has the welcome.

No-dues model

We've never charged a dime. And we never plan to.

Most clubs have dues. Many programs have fees. The Over 60 Club never has. From the beginning, our founders believed that belonging shouldn't have a price tag. If you're 60 or older and you live in the Stamford area, you are welcome here — period. No application. No waitlist. No dues. Just walk in.

That policy has stayed the same through eight decades of change in this city. It's not an oversight — it's a commitment.

Our mission

Why we exist

The Over 60 Club exists to enrich the lives of adults 60 and older in Stamford and the surrounding community by providing free programs, social connection, wellness resources, and transportation support — ensuring that every senior in our area has a place to belong, regardless of their circumstances.

Who we serve

If you're 60 or over, this is your club.

We serve adults 60 and older in Stamford, CT and the surrounding area. We are especially proud to serve seniors who:

  • Live alone and want regular social connection
  • No longer drive and need transportation support
  • Are on fixed incomes and need free programming
  • Have recently retired and are looking for community
  • Are new to Stamford and don't yet have a network here
  • Simply want somewhere warm to start their morning

You don't need to be in poor health. You don't need to be in perfect health. You just need to be over 60 and willing to show up. We'll take care of the rest.
